PATCH

IN 1

A modular that shows you where the sound goes.

All 42 SunVox module types are cards on a canvas. Drag a cable from an output to an input. Drop a modulation cable onto a knob. The cards show the controls you use most; open a module for all of them.

The Sternbahn canvas: oscillator, filter, delay, reverb and output cards joined by cables, with an LFO modulating the filter cutoff

CONNECT

Drag from an output to an input. Audio and modulation cables stay visible, and pulse while it plays.

MODULATE

Drop an LFO or envelope cable onto a knob. The amber arc shows how far it swings.

SEQUENCER

IN 1

Patterns that move past the bar line.

Eight tracks, each with its own length from 1 to 64 steps. Give a step a chance, a ratchet, a slide, an arpeggio or a parameter lock. Switch pattern slots A–H on the bar while it plays.

PARAMETER EDIT

IN 1

Simple on the canvas. Precise when it matters.

Select a module and its editor opens beside the patch: FM routing, additive harmonics, sampler key zones, drawn waveforms and curves. The patch stays in view while you work.

COLOUR SYSTEM

IN 1

Choose your atmosphere.

Six colour systems, from pale glass to dark and glowing. Each module family keeps its own colour, so you can read a patch at a glance. Try them: this page changes with the app.

SUNVOX ENGINE

IN 1

Powered by SunVox. Open by design.

Under the cards is SunVox, Alexander Zolotov's modular synth and tracker. Sternbahn gives it a visual Mac front end without locking your work in: open Sternbahn files in SunVox, and SunVox songs in Sternbahn.

QUESTIONS – BEFORE YOU PATCH IN

What do I need to run Sternbahn?

A Mac with macOS 15 or later. Sternbahn is a standalone app.

Is it an AU or VST plugin?

No. The first release is a standalone Mac app. It takes MIDI keyboards and exports WAV files.

What happens to my projects?

They are SunVox projects. Open them in SunVox on the other platforms it runs on, and open SunVox songs in Sternbahn.

Do I need to know SunVox?

No. Sternbahn comes with a full guide, from your first patch to sequencing a groove.

How many people can join the beta?

100. Places go in the order people confirm their email address. After that, sign-ups go on a waiting list and hear from us when Sternbahn is released.

How much will it cost?

The beta is free. The release will be a one-time purchase; the price hasn't been set yet.
